iPhone 4S sales contesting Kinect for fastest-selling record
By: Chris Maugham | October 17, 2011
t’s been just three days since the Apple iPhone 4S was made available and it is already smashing records when it comes to sales. After it was launched for pre-order last week, it managed to gain a total of one million orders placed in the first 24 hours, despite disappointment from critics, breaking the previous iPhone 4 record of 600,000 in total last year. Reports now show that the total number of iPhone 4S devices sold so far has reached a staggering 4 million.
This record makes it the fastest-selling iPhone ever; even the iPhone 4 only managed to sell 1.7 million in the first three days, it also means the device is on the verge of surpassing the record for fastest-selling gadget of all time, currently held by Microsoft’s Kinect, which famously sold over 8 million in the first 60 days of being on sale. All this despite a lack of enthusiasm and limited technological advancement compared to the previous models. READ THE FULL ARTICLE: ProductReviews

Battery draining on iPhone 4S, iOS 5 or new features
By: Peter Chubb | October 17, 2011
When Apple started to take pre-orders for the iPhone 4S I was a little excited, as were hundreds of thousands of others, and that joy continued when our new handsets were delivered by courier. However, after now spending a few days with the new smartphone there are a few issues, but the biggest is the battery draining at an alarming rate.
Now it’s hard to know why this is, we had assumed that it needed a full recharge cycle, but that never solved the issue. We then proceeded to turn off iTunes Wi-Fi syncing, again, still draining fast. Our next step was to turn iCloud off; again this still did not help with how fast the battery would go into the red. 'Occupy Wall Street' protests go global
From Tokyo to London, protesters worldwide join day of solidarity with New York's 'Occupy Wall Street' movement.
Protesters worldwide have joined the "Occupy Wall Street" movement in a cry of rage against bankers, financiers and politicians they accuse of ruining global economies and condemning millions to poverty and hardship through greed.
Dozens of cities across the world - from Tokyo to Alaska via London, Frankfurt and Washington - are holding demonstrations on Saturday, in a show of solidarity with the rallies that began last month in downtown New York.

"On October 15th people from all over the world will take to the streets and squares ... to initiate the global change we want," proclaimed the website United for #GlobalChange.
"We will peacefully demonstrate, talk and organize until we make it happen. It's time for us to unite; it's time for them to listen."
Melbourne, Australia's second-largest city, saw the day's first demonstration, when at least 1,000 people, including children, gathered at City Square.
"We face similar problems with our democracy here in Victoria and Australia as people face in most other developed nations," the Occupy Melbourne website said. "Our democracy is unwell."
In Sydney, about 2,000 protesters including representatives of Aboriginal groups, communists and trade unionists, protested outside the central Reserve Bank of Australia, at Martin Place in the central business district time.
